Bio
Adom-Binfo Asante (b.2003, U.S)

Is an artist from New York City creating artworks that are fueled by his relationship with spirituality and myth, both personal and interpersonal. His art practice grapples with the questions, what is there even when we cannot see? or what is there that we do not want seen?
Traditionally he relies on a process of heavy layering, gestural marks, and often vaguely described figures and symbols; while also experimenting with found object, sculpture and digital media. Being heavily influenced by pre-colonial African myth, custom and universal folklore tropes; he depicts scenes where these stories of supernatural figures and the human world intertwine. For him, his process is one of channeling. Each artwork holds its own myth and he acts a vessel for them to breathe. The work becomes a space for him to reflect, and see what was going on in this world he could not see beforehand.
